Google Introduces the +1 Button

Google has seen the success of Facebook’s Like Button and wants in on the action! Logged in Google users will now have the ability to “like” Google ads and Organic Listings in Google search by using the new +1 button. Here is a video introducing the +1 button:

When you +1 something on Google, you are recommending that search result or ad to your friends in your network.  When you friends are logged in to Google and searching they will see your recommendation next to their ads and search results.

Have a Clear Call to Action

“What am I supposed to do now?” That’s the last question you want crossing your web visitor’s mind, especially if they have arrived at your landing page through some sort of marketing offer.

From the perspective of your visitor it should be clear and obvious where they need to click on your page to get them closer to their goal. If your visitors have to spend time deciding where to look and what to do, they’ll most likely get frustrated and leave your site in search of more effortless experiences.

News Brief: eBay Buying GSI Commerce for $2.4 Billion

Some acquisition strategies simply amount to acquiring enough size to be bought yourself. By their track record that may have been GSI Commerce’s strategy all along. Ebay has announced plans to snatch up the  fast growing performance marketing company and e-commerce platform provider for $2.4 billion.

News Brief: Walgreens to buy Drugstore.com

Walgreens announced today that it will purchase drugstore.com for 409 million dollars. The Chicago-based chain will be incorporating the other companies owned by drugstore.com such as VisionDirect.com, SkinStore.com, Beauty.com. Drugstore.com and it’s other companies all in all have around 3 million online customers. The takeover should help Walgreens boost its online presence and should help the company by bringing in over 60, 000 products to its shelves.

The purchase is considered small by Walgreens, which is currently the nation’s largest drugstore. Walgreens made an estimated 67 billion in sales.
